Beautification

The Larchmont Boulevard Association and the Larchmont BID (Business Improvement District) Are collaborating to bring improvements to Larchmont Village in early 2025. This illustration by James Distoli, maps out what our refreshed city parking lot will look like. Once completed, it will include 4 legacy benches, 2 new garbage cans (trash and recycling), and native plants in all of the flower beds.

The Larchmont BID has provided the funding for the 12 new trash cans, with a matched donation from the City of Los Angeles. The color coordinated legacy benches and trash cans will be a beautiful French blue, manufactured by DuMor Site Furnishings. These are the same type of benches and trash cans currently enjoyed at the Beverly Hills Park on Santa Monica Boulevard, however, our muted blue benches and cans will be unique to Larchmont. They include a 20 year metal warranty, as well as a 5 year paint warranty, which is graffiti resistant.
In time, the BID wishes to replace all 20 of the green Big Belly Trash cans in Larchmont Village, with the new 32 gallon open top receptacles. The LBA intends to replace all of the existing wooden benches with the new legacy benches, which feature a third center arm and a plaque with the name of the family or business that has donated. The Legacy Bench program is being managed by the LBA, and we also have plans for additional benches elsewhere on the boulevard, once this initial phase is complete.

Make a $50 Donation
towards Beautification
To date the LBA has raised over $1000 towards our Landscaping budget set at $7500. Additionally, two legacy benches have been purchased, and three more benches have been reserved for 2025. If you'd like to help with our Larchmont makeover, please consider purchasing a legacy bench or trash can. You can also make a donation towards landscaping, as every little bit is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately donations are not tax deductible, as the LBA is a merchant association, not a non-profit.

Legacy Bench $3200 (includes bench, plaque, shipping, transportation, and installation)

Trash Receptacle $1800 (includes unit, shipping, transportation and installation)

Tree $750

Thank you! We're looking forward to a refreshed Larchmont in 2025. You can read more about our plans in a recent Larchmont Chronicle article.

Concrete Planters

March 2024

All 10 concrete planters were replanted in Larchmont Village under the guidance of Beautification committee chair Romi Cortier. He worked closely with Virgo Designs and Landscaping, as they replanted the pots, choosing 4 drought resistant plants: Spanish Lavender, Asparagus fern, statice, and casa blue dianella.

Our next goal is to replant the medians with an expanded concept that includes these same plants, as well as other fresh elements.

Updated Medians

August 2024

Beautification Chair Romi Cortier, in collaboration with Virgo Designs & Landscaping, moved 6 concrete planters from upper Larchmont into two small medians in Larchmont Village.

A variety of Drought Tolerant succulents, were paired with Mexican pebbles in Buff, and a large boulder. Plants include Agave Green Glow, Agave Blue Glow, Agave Flame, Elephant Bush Portulacaria afra; String of Pearls 'Senecio rowleyanus; and String of Dolphins 'Senecio peregrines, all selected by Virgo Design owner Lisa B for their hardness since there is no irrigation to those medians.

Larchmont Blue

This beautification concept seeks to utilize new blue metal park benches, with matching blue metal garbage cans, for the purpose of creating a branded look that is exclusive to Larchmont. There are currently 8 wooden benches on the westside of Larchmont in the village, and none on the east side of the street. This project would work to add these signature benches to both the village and upper Larchmont, with the goal of unifying the entire boulevard. This includes replacing the existing wooden benches. Our goal would be to create 'legacy benches' with donations from Larchmont's long history of legacy families.

LBA Merch

April 2024

The LBA has created an exclusive line of merchandise that supports our beautification efforts. Therefore, all proceeds from the sale of these items, are reinvested into our community, benefiting all of us. The Merch was introduced at the family fair in the fall of 2023. For spring 2024, we've added new elements including a hummingbird image donated by beautification committee chair Romi Cortier. The gardens Of Hancock Park continue to be our springboard, as we work to beautify our business district. Retails items are available at: Tailwaggers, Romi Cortier Design and some Sunday farmers markets.

Larchmont Central Park(let)

February 2024 presented in The Larchmont Chronicle.

This idea seeks to reconfigure the city parking Lot in the heart of Larchmont, in a way that will add trees and seating. It will also utilize one parallel parking space on the Street, as a counterbalance to the trees and seating in the reconfigured city parking lot. We welcome public comment.
