Jane Gilman
Founding President Emerita, Larchmont Boulevard Association
Jane Gilman's visionary leadership and dedication have been instrumental in shaping Larchmont Village into the vibrant and welcoming community it is today. Co-founder of the Larchmont Chronicle in 1963, Jane helped revive the Larchmont Boulevard Association alongside her fellow Larchmont Chronicle co-founder, Dawne Goodwin. The two women breathed new life into the organization and fostered unity among local merchants and property owners. Under her leadership, the LBA spearheaded significant initiatives, including the creation of the Larchmont Family Fair and Taste of Larchmont. The Chronicle advocated for parking meters to add revenue to the street, as well as other traffic safety and beautification projects, including the construction of the Larchmont medians. Jane also co-founded the Windsor Square-Hancock Park Historical Society and played a key role in the revitalization of the Miracle Mile Chamber of Commerce. Jane is an active member of The Ebell of Los Angeles, serving on the board as Vice President of Public Relations. After retiring from the
Chronicle in 2016, she authored
Inside Hancock Park (2020), a richly detailed exploration of one of L.A.'s most historic communities. Jane's legacy is one of tireless advocacy, community stewardship, and deep love for Larchmont and its surrounding neighborhoods.
Dawne Goodwin McCollough
Co-Founder, Larchmont Chronicle and Past President, Larchmont Boulevard Association
A dynamic and tenacious advertising professional, Dawne Goodwin co-founded the
Larchmont Chronicle with Jane Gilman, establishing a vital community newspaper that has chronicled the neighborhood's life for decades. As a past president of the Larchmont Boulevard Association, Dawne played a pivotal role in revitalizing the LBA, helping to secure city approval for the west side parking lot and co-founding beloved community events such as the Larchmont Family Fair and Taste of Larchmont. She was also a driving force behind the boulevard's 50th anniversary celebration, where she famously rode in a Wells Fargo stagecoach alongside entertainer Rudy Vallee. Dawne's welcoming spirit and dedication to supporting local businesses helped attract and nurture countless new merchants on Larchmont Boulevard. Beyond the LBA, she was an active board member of the Wilshire Chamber of Commerce, demonstrating a broader commitment to Los Angeles's business community. A lifelong lover of horses, Dawne maintained a weekly riding routine, embodying the independence and determination that characterized her approach to community leadership.
Tim Gogan, D.D.S.
Former President, Larchmont Boulevard Association
Dr. Tim Gogan, a respected local dentist, served as president of the Larchmont Boulevard Association on multiple occasions, most notably in the early 1990s. During his tenure, he played
a critical role in expanding the popular Larchmont Family Fair, enhancing this cornerstone event that continues to foster community spirit and local business engagement. Dr. Gogan is best known for leading the effort to establish the "Q" Qualified Conditions, a set of zoning regulations designed to preserve the small-town charm and pedestrian-friendly nature of Larchmont Boulevard's commercial district. These conditions set important restrictions on business types, storefront sizes, and architectural elements, helping to maintain the boulevard's distinctive character and appeal. Beyond his leadership roles, Dr. Gogan remains actively involved in the community, often participating in holiday street decorations and other neighborhood events. His dedication to balancing growth with preservation has left a lasting positive impact on Larchmont Village, ensuring it remains a vibrant, walkable destination beloved by residents and visitors alike.
Joane Pickett
Past President, Larchmont Boulevard Association
Joane Pickett, a respected business owner and community leader, served as president of the
Larchmont Boulevard Association during a pivotal time for the neighborhood. Shortly after
opening her clothing store, Pickett Fences, in 1994, she joined the LBA Board and soon became
a driving force behind revitalizing Larchmont Boulevard's Sunday activity. Working closely with
then CD4 Councilmember Tom LaBonge, Joane championed the creation of the Sunday Farmers
Market, transforming what was once a quiet, sleepy street into one of the busiest and most
vibrant shopping destinations in the area. Together with Councilmember LaBonge, she
spearheaded key infrastructure improvements, including the installation of a handicapped-
accessible crosswalk and beautifully landscaped medians along the boulevard. Joane also played
a vital role in passing a preservation measure that limited building heights from three to
two stories, protecting the character of the homes backing Larchmont Boulevard between
Beverly and First Street. Joane credits LaBonge's unwavering support as essential to these
achievements, from securing permits for the parking lot that houses the Farmers Market to
establishing free parking in the city's underground lot. Her dedication to balancing growth with
preservation helped shape the Larchmont we know today-vibrant, welcoming, and community-focused.
